Hello! I am currently creating some custom fields within our Jira instance. A couple of these fields have longer descriptions or questions within the description. Is there a way to insert line breaks within the description? I have tried EVERYTHING and can't get them to show when my developers are creating issues. Thanks!

At least in some versions, you can use HTML to format the descriptions. Make sure this option is turned on in Jira Administration -> System -> Enable HTML in custom field descriptions and list item values.
There are two places you can edit field descriptions and they aren't the same: in Custom Fields, or in Field configurations. The latter will overwrite the former, so leave the latter blank or make your changes there. Atlassian has a KB about this.
Be wary about enabling HTML : Atlassian have disabled it by default in later releases as an error can necessitate open heart surgery on your DB.
