I have created a Knowledge Base and is set to the basic default. Are there any templates you can use to create tiles like below - any help would be greatly appreciated.

What platform of Confluence are you on - Server or Cloud?
Typically having tiles is achieved with an app/add-on, but there are some simple workarounds. Check out the 'Navigation Map' macro - that may be a quick start.
