Attach a an existing Bamboo Build to a Jira Version (Release) from Groovy Script

I reached to a deadend while looking for a solution in Jira Class APi and Bamboo Rest API

 

I trigger a bamboo build through Bamboo Rest API and the API returns a Build Number, which gets stored in a custom field in an Issue in Jira.

 

After getting this build number, I would like to attach the build reference to a version in Jira using Groovy. 

 

There is a way to do it through the GUI, which can be done through the below guide

Is there a way to do the above from Groovy or Jira Rest API or Bamboo API?

What about through webhook and rest api ?
