The default Confluence template support allows creation of new pages based on a template. However once a page was created using a template, changes to the template are not reflected by the pages previously created using it. This is fine for a number of scenarios.
We are however looking for a way to provide form-like templates where users can create pages using these and fill out the paceholders. If we change a template, e.g. change the layout or add a placeholder, then these changes should be reflected by the pages based on the template.
We have been using the Scaffolding plugin's Live Template feature to do this. However, the plugin has been causing more trouble than acceptable. Its functionality has been breaking every now and then with browser, confluence or plugin updates and CustomWare (now ServiceRocket) support and license policy did not shine for us. The plugin is about to expire and we would like to get away from it.
We are therefore looking for a better way to accomplish this. Is there no built-in support for this kind of functionality in Confluence? Would blueprints be something to look at? Are there other plugins or techniques we can use?
