Upgrading confluence from 5.9.3 to latest

Question

actually i am fresher and my lead give me work to upgrade confluence to latest version

so i don't have any knowledge about confluence and how upgrade thing are done but i know our confluence based on Linux operating system so kindly , give me step by step information that how upgrade things need to be done it will really helpful for me we are using currently 5.9.3 .

There two supported methods to upgrade Confluence: manually or using an installer. The manual method basically involves downloading the newest version of Confluence, then running it against your existing Confluence Home directory.
