(MAC) Jira had problems starting up: system plugins failed

Question

Hello,

I'm trying to set Jira to work on localhost:8080

I get this message:

System plugins failed to start: We haven't been able to start all the required system plugins

We couldn't start the following plugins:

* com.atlassian.jira.jira-quick-edit-plugin (com.atlassian.jira.jira-quick-edit-plugin)
* com.atlassian.jira.lookandfeel (com.atlassian.jira.lookandfeel)

Did anyone encounter the same issue? Will appreciate any help!

My only idea at this point is to check whether you're using java8 or something else. If you're using java 7, Jira will let you know but in case of openjdk, it won't.

For me the problem was that by default my computer had openjdk instead oracle's java 1.8.

Once I set Java 8 everything worked.
