How do I get my Jira issue links to look like the example?

On the Atlassina marketing info for Confluence, there's an example of Jira issue links which looks like this: 
, but when I insert issue links they look like this:  . How do I get the same effect they do, ie. to show the issue summary + icon for the issue type?

It sounds like your Application Link between Confluence and JIRA has not been configured correctly.

If they do not, raise a Support request and we can investigate.
