Replace Confluence Search Logic

Hello,

I would like to replace the default Confluence search logic. As an example, when a user searches some articles using the search bar (on the top), I want to intercept the user input, access some remote search service, and provides the results to the Confluence API, such as these results are displayed the same way as a default search.

Is it possible to perform such a feature? Is there any existing module that behave in a similar way?

Hello Julien and welcome to the Community!

While you most certainly look into creating an add-on which may allow for this type of functionality, I would suggest reviewing the available plugins which may already include what you’re wanting to do. There are 90 add-ons which I found within the Atlassian Marketplace for Confluence searching. Here is a preset search for Atlassian Marketplace | Search.

Alternatively, if you did want to pursue creating something for Confluence, then I would suggest reviewing the Writing Confluence plugins. This will cover how to get started with plugin development. Something to also note is there is a developer community available at https://community.developer.atlassian.com.
