What is the equivalent sequence of git commands for the `rebase + merge --no-ff` workflow?

I'd like to mimic locally what the sequence of git commands is for when a PR is merged using the `rebase + merge --no-ff` workflow. Especially with regards to rebase strategies and handling of failure/conflicts.
