Custom fields on cards as limits for dates or rows.

Question

Could a custom field on a card be tied in to somehow limit the number of cards in a row or for a date?

For example, let's say I have four cards and they all have the same date. I want to assign a unit value to each card, however I don't want the total unit values of all the cards for that date to exceed a limit. Can this be done?

It is not possible to create such an automation natively, but you could use the API to fetch the data and to do that calculation outside of Trello
