Following on from my post last week, once you've decided which tool to use, you often need to migrate existing data from spreadsheets to avoid manual input. Which brings us to top question number two…

2. How do we migrate from spreadsheets to Jira or Trello?

Let’s be honest, spreadsheets aren’t designed for many things we use them for. They just happen to be readily available and everyone knows how to use them. One nonprofit has reimagined their prioritisation matrix from a spreadsheet into Jira Product Discovery so that they can more easily identify the highest value work across their teams.

How to migrate from spreadsheets to Jira, Jira Product Discovery, Jira Service Management:

• Decide on your data fields, types and values. Consider brainstorming and aligning using a Confluence Whiteboard. 

• Clean up your data and configure your Jira fields.

• Use the CSV import feature to map spreadsheet columns to Jira fields. Find this in your site.atlassian.net/issues

• You will need a Trello Power-Up to assist you in migrating data. Search Import data to find one that suits you:
  • From CSV or Excel
  • Copying and pasting a list
