Hello,

I was tasked with changing our heavily-customized Jira Task issue back to the out-of-the-box task which only contains the minimum amount of fields necessary, but because of how customized it is, I cannot seem to find what a task normally should contain, prior to customization.
Does anyone know where I can find this information? I've looked everywhere in the scheme issue types and issue types as well as looked at a lot of "How to make a task" tutorial videos - and all those videos had different fields.

Thank you

Hi @Christina Kallas

Welcome to the community.

Create a new project based on the Task tracking template in the Work management section on creating projects.

This should provide a basic tast tracking project with default screens and the default fields on a Taks issue type.

If loads of fields appear directly, that means the context of the custom fields are based to be set on all projects and issue types.

So there is work to do, to make sue custom fields are only visible where needed. So you will need to put effort in time in to structuring this.

Other option is to spin up a free tiert cloud instance and create a simpel project there, use this as your guideline

I believe that is what my issue is - the context of custom fields are based to be used on all projects and issue types. Where can I find the base out-of-box fields within my instance? Or is there somewhere on the Jira website that shows how it is meant to be?

Hi @Christina Kallas

You can't find this in your instance as this instance has been modified with custom fields, and those fields have not been set a correct context.

Your choices are as explained in my previous comment.

There is no Jira site to find this one.

Use the suggestion to create a free tier Cloud instance and create a project there, this will show you what the defaults on screens are.

Based on this information, create new screens and screen schemes and issue type screen schemes in your instnace.
