I think this is fixed in June 2022 but on Cloud only. Before the change indeed it was PDF. The updated experience displays an HTML rendering of the Excel file and includes a spreadsheet selector at the bottom of the view.
I still see the version that shows a pdf, how can I use the updated macro? This is on a brand new sheet.
