I’m Josh, a product manager on the Rovo team. As a PM, I’m constantly searching for ways to do things a little faster or better in my every day tasks. AI is incredibly powerful, but sometimes it needs the right tools to do the job well.
That’s why we’re building Rovo Skills - a powerful toolbelt built for the AI era. From scouring Jira tickets to write release notes, formatting messy backlog items, to getting insights across the Atlassian portfolio, Rovo Skills are here to do that “one thing” really well. I've included a handy visual ⬇️
We’re on the hunt for 20 community members to test Skills out and influence the current/future state.
Here’s the link to join the Rovo Skills Early Access Program (EAP).
We have spots for 20 customers during this first round. The EAP program will begin in early December.
While a Rovo Agent might help you brainstorm a complex strategy or manage a project, a Rovo Skill is designed for specific, repeatable utility. It takes a workflow and automates it with precision – it does one thing extremely well.
In this first cohort, you will get hands-on access to the initial library of Atlassian-built Skills. We need your help to understand how we can make them better. You will be given access to Rovo Skills across these key areas:
Accelerating daily Jira tasks: Use Skills like /update-work-items and /explain-workflow to handle ticket maintenance directly in Chat, and /assist-jira-plans to supercharge your Jira Plans sessions.
Automating communication & releases: Stop writing the same updates manually. Test Skills designed to draft content instantly, including /generate-status-update, /draft-release-notes, /summarize-release, and /create-release.
Get insights from your data: with /get-data-insights, get instant answers to analytical questions from Atlassian app data, right in chat, with actionable insights and charts generated from the Atlassian data lake.
Take action in Jira Admin: Don't dig through menus. Ask Rovo to handle complex navigation and analysis for you with Skills like /manage-jira-permissions and /find-jira-settings.
It is completely up to you which Rovo Skills you’d like to take for a test drive during the EAP period.
This EAP is your chance to see how Rovo is evolving.
In this initial release: You will access these Skills directly through Rovo Chat. You can invoke them during a conversation via a /slash-command to get a structured result instantly. Think of it as asking Rovo to "run a program" for you right in the chat window. For example:
/draft-release-notes for Rovo Skills. Use the the 0.1 version in the SKLLZ project.
Where we are heading: We are building towards a future where Skills live everywhere you work:
In Rovo Chat: Chat will be smart enough to choose the right skill without you having to explicitly invoke it with a slash command (this capability is not yet available in the EAP).
In our Apps: imagine clicking a "Draft release notes" button directly on a Jira Release to invoke the Skill instantly - no chat required.
In Agents and Automation: For the builders among you, these Skills will become the atomic building blocks of Studio. You will soon be able to use them to construct your own custom agents and complex Automations.
As we prepare to move these Skills out of Chat and into Studio and other Atlassian apps, we need to know:
Did the Skill return the result you expected?
Did they help to speed up your day-to-day workflows?
What Skills should we build next?
Your feedback will directly shape the library of Skills available to millions of Atlassian users. You can provide feedback via this form.
