Tracking add-on usage

I'm doing this as a discussion instead of a question because there might not be a definitive answer.

So, you have a system with various free or paid add-ons and you want to determine whether people are using those add-ons or not?  Because either you don't want to renew add-ons that no one is using or even get rid of free ones if no one is using them.

Does the Atlassian environment provide a mechanism for getting that type of information?  If so, how does one harvest that information?
