Sprint Capacity Analysis now supports skills based individual capacity management

I've recently released an update to the Sprint Capacity Analysis Forge application (which is available for free on the Atlassian Marketplace) that provides the ability to schedule work based on the skills of the available members of your team.

The Sprint Capacity Analysis application is a personal side project that is helping my team and others to achieve more predictable sprint delivery.

We want to ensure that our team successfully completes all the work items that we commit to each sprint. This allows us to predict when long running projects will be delivered and alert us when we're going off track.

Like many software development teams we have a mixture of backend, frontend and full-stack skills and not every work item can be completed by everyone in the team.

To avoid overcommitting on any specific required skill we can use the application to align team skills with the requirements of the work items.

Sprint Capacity Analysis allows you to select any valid custom field (including Label) as a source for skills and you can then select values from that field to use as skills.

Assign skills to work items and to the work items on your backlog and let the Planning Tools feature of the Sprint Capacity Analysis do the rest!

So in this example all out our backend engineers are away for the sprint:

As a result the Planning Tool recommends to remove all the currently planned backend work items out of the sprint and bring in some frontend work instead:

I'll be adding more Skills related features in the near future (such as incorporating the data into the "Sprints" and "Overview" tabs.

I'm really keen to get feedback as the app develops so if you'd like to give it try and get me know how it goes I'd be happy to hear from you!

Thanks!
