Unfortunately, the native Mac App doesn't have the ability to have a grid view, so if this is something that you need, maybe a browser might be a good alternative.
If you're using Chrome though, there are loads of helpful Chrome Extensions which might help out. There is a blog post on the Big List of Chrome Extensions which gives a good overview of some extensions that are available, and the one that stands out to me is the List Layout Chrome Extension, which might help you get what you want.
I use a Mac, and have Trello open in Chrome, purely because I use a lot of extensions to make Trello even more awesome!!
