can I filter cards with checklist dates?

Salvee June 10, 2020

We would like to filter our cards with our checklist dates. We have a custom, checklist with at least 4 to 5 line items with various dates attached. And as we check the items off the next date becomes the priority, but we would like for the cards to be sorted by date pulling each card the day of to the top of the list.

anybody know if this is possible. seems the only way to sort lists is my the major due dates...dunno.

@Salvee that's right, you can't sort lists by due dates on checklist items, however if you sub-task using a linked checklist instead you can sort the sub-task cards:

Thanks for the reply, this is almost it, but as a company that will have over 25 cards in a board with multiple checklist dates, adding the cards would be mind boggling.

I think if there was a way to have the checklist date and the due date correspond would be an easier solution.

I have 5 tasks in the checklist with dates, and if there was a way to have the most recent date be the DUE DATE, then I could filter the cards in a list by DUE DATE. Then as I check off tasks in the checklist the new checklist date becomes the cards new DUE DATE....does this make sense?

@Salvee the cards are created automatically from checklist items, so the task of creating them is not significant. You would then just set the cards as due on their required dates.

There's no construct in Butler that would allow you to, for example "find next incomplete checklist item", but you could do it directly with the API, this is what it would look like in Trellinator:

You could also have a complementary function that set the parent card due when you set due dates on child cards if the due date set is earlier than the existing due date on the parent card (or no due date exists):
