Remove member and add back?

Chris White January 30, 2024

I have a member that has used Google to log in to Trello. She now wants to use her own email to login instead.

Can this be done easily without any loss of her original contribution, if so, how?

Many thanks

Welcome to the Atlassian Community!

The way Google Accounts work is that they create associate Atlassian accounts which are then logged into via Google.

When you log into Trello, you're actually logging in via an Atlassian account, even though, in this case, it is going through Google.

Get your member to log into Trello with her current account and click on her profile logo. Select "manage account, " which will take you to the ID system.  Click on the email tab and change the email to the new one she wants to use.

Three warnings:

  • She must be able to read the emails, old and new. The last time I did this, both required a confirmation click-through before the email changes.
  • It can take a while for the new account settings to roll out.  Allow a couple of hours (but I've never seen it take more than a couple of minutes; some people tell me it can be longer)
  • This will disconnect the Atlassian account from Google.  She will need to use the Atlassian account login for all Atlassian Cloud products from now on, not just Trello
