Anyone have a good solution for redirecting links to Trello cards such that they open in the Trello app (Mac OS X) rather than a browser?
I tried this using the Mac app Choosy, but needless to say the app does not know how to process a hyperlink.
Anyone know of another way "into" the Trello app?
ursbraem's answer will allow you to open the Trello app when using the Firefox Redirector add-on.
But from that example, it will not open the card directly in the Trello app.
In order to get the Trello Card in the link to open in the Trello App, you need to add trello.com to the redirect, as such:
to: trello://trello.com/c/$1
This method works, but it helps if you have the Trello app open already, so the Card will open directly. If the Trello app is closed, then the card might not work, since the app is spinning up and connecting to your project.
I got it working this way, and it's such a relief. Thanks ursbraem for the suggestion!

Thanks Jason! I noticed the misbehaviour shortly after I posted, but then gave up.
Now it works 🎉

Maybe there's a way to do it via the app's Paste URL & Go command.
Maybe a script (Bash? AppleScript?) that takes the url from Choosy and pastes it into Trello.
I would love to figure this out!

Good idea! Had not noticed that menu item.
I cobbled together a work around here by creating a Keyboard Maestro action.
The action triggers on System Clipboard change, and if it contains "https://trello.com/c/" then it switches to the Trello app and runs the Paste URL & Go menu action.
As such, in Mail I right click on the card title and choose "Copy Link", and it runs, switching me to Trello and then the card itself.
Still not quite one click smooth, but closer...

Nice! My workaround for now is always using Trello in the browser, with one exception - I run the desktop app, menubar only, purely to use its Quick Card (⌃⌥Space).

I think I've got it!
I've installed the extension https://addons.mozilla.org/de/firefox/addon/redirector/ in my default browser (I'm sure there's something similar for chrome as well)
Then I set up the redirect:
And then allowed macOS to redirect those trello links to Trello app:
