Hello, I've got various boards that are no longer used, but some have been set up by colleagues who have now left. In some cases, the email addresses associated with those boards have also been deleted.
It looks like I only get the Close Board option for boards that I've created myself. On the others, I can only Leave Board. Does anyone know how to delete the other defunkt boards?
Thanks!
Simon
Ho @Simon_Howard ,
Welcome to the community!
Please read carefully and follow the below steps. I hope it will solve your problem!
Close a board by selecting "Close Board" from the board menu (open the board's menu and click the "More" button to expand the menu options). You have to be an admin of a board to close it. In Business Class teams, the team admin can also close the board.
Other board members will receive a notification that the board has been closed.
Close a board from the board's menu.
Once a board is closed, it is no longer visible in your Boards list and can only be accessed by clicking the Boards button at the top left of your Trello page and selecting "See closed boards..."
Access closed boards from your boards drawer.
If you're trying to leave a board after it's been closed, you can do so on this page.
(Not an admin and trying to leave the board? See Removing yourself from a board).
Note: Business Class team admins are able to close any board within their team, even if they are not an admin of that particular board or if it is a 'private' board within the team.
If you're using the Trello app for iOS or Android, you can close a board by first opening that board and then opening it's menu (the "..." icon in the top right of the page). From there, select the gear icon in the iOS app or the "Board Settings" option on Android. Select "Archive Board" from the options in the settings to close the board.
Hi Simon,
First question, which kind of boards? For Trello, Soumyadeep_Mandal's steps should work. For Jira Software Agile boards, a Jira admin can select Boards > View all boards, locate the appropriate board, click that boards overflow menu (three dots), and select Delete. Jira admins can also locate the board on the Shared Dashboard screen and select Delete Dashboard in the options menu (cog icon). Cheers!

Thanks for offering the answers guys. They are Trello boards. I'm still only able to leave some boards, without the option of closing them.
I will try adding the previous admin's email as an alias to mine, and request a reset password, then log in as the old admin and close the board from there.

@Simon_Howard from your perspective, leaving the board is the same as deleting it. If there's a bunch of stuff you want to remove so other people will not be able to get access to it later, you could move the lists to some other board before leaving it.
