Can one task/custom field/checklist item to be dependent on whether another item is checked?

Mary Diers July 20, 2021

We would love to figure out a way to make it so that a custom field, a task, or a checklist item is dependent on another item being done and checked. Even further, once that task is checked, can the team member responsible for the next task be alerted they can complete their task, and so on.  Thank you for any insight.

@Mary Diers I've built similar functionality for clients using my Trello automation platform:

http://www.benkobot.com/

at the moment it doesn't support advanced checklists but if you're interested in this solution it would be relatively easy to add it in.

The code that executes it will look something like:

You can email me on team@benkoworks.com if you'd like to discuss.

@Mary Diers

The next checklist item capability is not available as far as I know. I wrote an add on to do that.

I have not migrated this to my new platform.

As for your first part, you can achieve some of it with Butler. I anticipate the use of either wildcards or regex so that you do not hardcode the names but it does mean some standardisation of item names…etc. Need to look at the actual cases that you are trying to handle.
