Board button (automation) for only one board

Victoria W May 23, 2024

I'm a member of a workspace — not the admin — and I created a board button automation to sort some cards in some of the lists on the board.

If I leave "Anyone in this workspace can enable this button" unchecked, it seems only I can see the button (on any board). If I check the box, I can only see the button on the intended board, but the workspace admin says they can see it on all the boards.

Is there a way I can configure the button so it only appears on the single board where it should be used? (The lists it sorts aren't present on the other boards.)

Hi @Victoria W

The way this is set up is confusing for sure.  However the right combination to ensure that the button is visible on the board you want and anyone on that board can use it should be as below:

Hi @Dreamsuite Mike — thank you very much for getting back to me so quickly.

The button I have is for the board but the options are the same. I had the settings configured the same way as your screenshot, too, but thanks to your reply we've figured out what was going on 👍

It seems there button is still displayed sometimes when we switch between boards (i.e. if I view the board where the button should be, and then switch to a board where it should not be visible) unless we hit F5 to manually refresh the page. After refreshing the page with F5, the button disappears!

So it seems the behaviour we were seeing is some kind of browser or user interface glitch (I'm seeing it on Microsoft Edge Version 125.0.2535.51). If I click the button when it's being shown on the wrong board, it doesn't do anything. I've renamed it so no one gets confused if it appears where it shouldn't, too.

Thank you very much for your help — it was the encouragement needed to keep going and figure this out!

Hi @Victoria W

That is odd behaviour for sure.  Clearing browser cache completely often resolves these kinds of things.
