When I try to attach a file from Google Drive in the iOS app, I hit the 10 Mb upload limit, but when I do it from the mobile browser, it links to GDrive instead and works. How can I get this linking behavior from the app instead of the upload behavior?

Hi @Jandy Hardesty ðŸ‘‹

Welcome to the Community! Quick question do you have the Google Drive Trello Power-Up enabled? The mobile app notoriously has reduced capabilities to that of a desktop view including Power-Ups.

Trello's Limitations:

  • There is a 10 MB file upload limit per attachment. However, paid members have a 250 MB file upload limit per attachment. There is no account data storage limit in any Trello plan.
  • The 10MB file upload only applies to files uploaded from your computer. It does not apply to files attached from Google Drive, Dropbox, Box or OneDrive.

Hopefully we can get to the bottom of this for you 😃

All the best,

Laura

I do have the Google Drive power up installed, but I can’t find how to activate it from the mobile app. When I click to add an attachment I can navigate to my Google Drive from my phone’s file system, but it wants to upload the attachment instead of link out to Google Drive. I would also possibly consider the paid account since I appreciate Trello a lot, but I also can’t find where in the app to upgrade!

I can do the attachments through the Google Drive link from my desktop pretty easily, but I use my desktop probably 1/10 of the time I use the iOS app, so it would be way more useful to me if I could do it on the app!

Right okay, I think I know the problem. So the Trello mobile app has reduced functionalities including a limited number of Power Ups - at the moment Trello iOS does not support Power Ups other than The Calendar, Custom Fields, Maps and Voting. This is why the Google Drive Power Up does not work and can't be found to be enabled.

Moving to a paid account won't solve this issue I'm afraid, the Power Ups are naturally intended for a desktop environment over a mobile app.

A suggested way around this is you could copy and paste the 'shareable link' you can create in Google Drive to the Trello card?
