Context

Atlassian's State of Teams research seeks to provide a framework for tracking team health over time. In partnership with research specialists Paper Giant, we're capturing factors like engagement, performance, cultural norms, and long-term viability. In addition to providing a macro-level view across industries, the State of Teams project also links specific practices and attitudes to team health outcomes. Our initial wave of data shows that it's not where you work that matters, but how you work.

We asked questions on these topics:

  • Breakdown of teams working with colocated teams, on hybrid teams, or on distributed teams.
  • Breakdown of healthy, partially healthy, and unhealthy teams.
  • Whether location matters
  • Whether organizational culture matters
  • Whether connectivity matters
  • Most common team struggles
  • Drivers of team health

Is there any data on development methodologies/frameworks and collaborative tools used across the teams? I understand that we wouldn’t be able to establish a causal link to health here without a lot of extra work, but still, maybe there could be an extra insight there?

Thank you

Hi @Christine P. Dela Rosa

Did this research include information for *the same teams* over time, including any changes to location, or only sampling teams based upon the current working norms: co-located, all remote, or hybrid locations?  It would be interesting to learn how team health changed (or didn't!) independent of where people physically worked now.

Kind regards,
Bill

This is our first wave, @Bill Sheboy. So no comparisons against other waves, but in the future, this won't be longitudinal where we survey the same respondents over time. But, we will sample representative groups with each wave so that we can chart the trends over time.

@Mahreen Khan can speak to this more in her AMA (or written here if she prefers).
