authentication failed

I always get authentication failure when trying to fetch/pull from my git.

Here's the failure from source tree:

git -c diff.mnemonicprefix=false -c core.quotepath=false fetch origin
fatal: Authentication failed for ''

I had made sure that the password that I used is the same as my

How could this be?

Have you tried to use a git command client? If it also has authentication issues, you may need to contact support.

It looks like I cannot use my email address for the user name (it says to use email address, so it was misleading) because of the '@' in there, so it gets confused while figuring out the path to get the repository, I had to change to use an alias for the user name and it now works.
