Why does my global core editor setting not seem to work?

Primary Example of the Issue:

core.editor='C:\Program Files\Notepad++\notepad++.exe' -multiInst -notabbar -nosession -noPlugin is set in my global config settings, which was selected during Sourcetree install.  Yet, when I edit a config file, Sourcetree makes me select an editor everytime and it does not remember my settings for the next time.

I need to be able to configure this and share it with my developers.

Sourcetree 3.0.8, Menu-->Repository-->Repository Settings-->Edit Config File... button

The edit uses the OS file settings rather than git's configuration.

It is something we should consider supporting.
