SourceTree install won't run on Windows 7 "Windows can't open this file"

Thomas Bithell January 9, 2018

I get this when trying to launch the downloaded install. I cannot find the appropriate program to launch. Shouldn't it just be and exe file that runs?

Make sure the downloaded SourceTreeSetup file has a file extension. Adding the .exe extension to the file fixed this problem.

@Thomas Bithell, configure windows to show extensions and make sure that file shows an extention of .exe.

Interesting thing is Windows was already configured to show the extension of files. But the SourceTreeSetup file did not have an extension. I renamed the file and added .exe to the end and then it would launch and install.
