Repository List Modal not available on Windows

jengley March 5, 2018

When I open SourceTree on my MAC it starts with a nice modal that lists all of my repositories.  From this modal I can select an existing repository and it will open up the "main" SourceTree window where I can do all the normal git functions.

However, when I open SourceTree on my Windows PC it goes right to the "main" SourceTree window.  There is no initial Repository List modal.  Instead, all my existing repositories are listed on tabs in the "main" window.

Is it possible to have the Repository List modal available on SourceTree for Windows?  The modal on the MAC is a nice feature, which I prefer over the Windows tabbed list.

Hi Jeff,

There was a repositories sidebar in the Windows release at one time but we moved to a new design discussed in the following blog posts (one about the visual reasons and one about the performance)

https://blog.sourcetreeapp.com/2017/05/18/windows-2-0-gets-a-fresh-look/

https://blog.sourcetreeapp.com/2017/05/05/sourcetree-2-0-for-windows-3x-faster-than-sourcetree-1-9/

Hopefully that helps to explain why there is a Repositories Browser on macOS and the "new tab experience" on Windows. Over time the design on macOS will likely become closer to that of the Windows client.

Cheers,
