Is there an advanced search in Answers?

The Answers search box allows you to enter plain text which is then apparently used to search for an exact string match.

In addition you can search for tags by entering them between square brackets, e.g. [jira].
From I learned that you can enter multiple tags which are then ANDed.
A combination of a tag and some words is also possible, but the words are again interpreted as a string instead of separate words.

Is there an advanced search?
I'd like to have e.g. AND, OR, NOT, string match, tags, and grouping functionality.
Maybe also some metadata.

Some examples:

  • gorilla whale
    Which is equivalent to:
    gorilla AND whale
  • gorilla OR whale
  • "size of a whale"
Search for the exact text (current behavior)
  • [jira] <unanswered>
Search for unanswered questions which are tagged with [jira]
  • ([crucible] OR [fisheye]) ([perforce] AND NOT ([subversion] OR [cvs] OR [mercurial] OR [git] OR [clearcase])
    AND, OR, NOT and grouping

Well, until a feature request is fulfilled, I would use Google to search these queries:

jira OR crowd

jira AND crowd

It would appear that Advanced Search functionality is not available:

However, I have been unable to locate the feature request.

I also created a feature request to improve search a few days ago, can be found here:
