start working with web jira before importing the the DB from old JIRA

Our company joined the JIRA web version (OnDemand). We have an old local version server with DB on it.

Can we start work with the new JIRA before importing the old DB ... ? Is the import proccess adds the data to the exist one , or raplace it ( erases the exist data ) ?

Hi Oren,

There are multiple import processes depending on the type of export. If you upgrade your local JIRA to a compatible version and do a JIRA XML export and import it will wipe all of the current JIRA data. If you were to build a .csv file out of your old JIRA data and import that .csv file it would append the information to your current instance.
