How do I read Jira data on a third-party website?

Andrew February 25, 2021

Hey everybody,

We're trying to read Jira data on a third party website and we're having problems getting it working.

We've been following the guide here using OAuth: https://developer.atlassian.com/cloud/jira/platform/integrate-jira-issues-with-your-application/#display-related-jira-issues-in-your-application

And using the PHP example here: https://bitbucket.org/atlassianlabs/atlassian-oauth-examples/src/master/

Fire off, I don't know if this is the right approach for what we need to do. We only need to read data on a third party website, and however we can accomplish that is more than welcome. I don't even know if we need to just go ahead and make a Jira app because OAuth is built-in?

Here's the technology we're trying to connect:

We currently have a remote server with cPanel that has a WordPress website hosted on it. The server doesn't have Java enbabled, but does have PHP.

We tried the NodeJS and PHP examples listed above but they didn't work. The PHP example is just yielding a 500 error.

Do you have any other advice for how we can read Jira data on a third party website?

Perhaps we need to try a different method than the tutorials given. It seems like they're outdated at this point from 2013.

Any help or guidance would be greatly appreciated!

If you have any questions please let me know.

Hi @Andrew

There is also an Atlassian Developer Community forum where you may want to post this question and search for answers:  https://community.developer.atlassian.com/
