Recently, when viewing a backlog item, the "Add a comment..." field at the bottom of the screen has a bunch of preset comments that you can click on, like:
๐ Looks good! ๐ Need help? โ This is blocked... ๐ Can you clarify...? โ This is on track
I can't find any release notes about these. Is there an option to turn them off?
I got this resolved by contacting Atlassian Support. The rep removed these within a couple days.
There is no way for an admin to turn these on or off.

You must be a registered user to add a comment. If you've already registered, sign in. Otherwise, register and sign in.
Yes, and...at this time there is no way for free license users to disable this feature as they cannot directly contact Atlassian Support.

I would like to turn off these presets too.
It is also very annoying that these presets are always visible, when you scroll down they lock at the top of the screen, when you scroll up they lock at the bottom of the screen.
These presets are also very non functional and add nothing useful:
You must be a registered user to add a comment. If you've already registered, sign in. Otherwise, register and sign in.
I agree - these presets don't help at all but are confusing. I just contacted the support to turn this feature off. should at least be an admin setting.

Apologies for hijacking your answer.
Here's an actual, albeit temporary solution, if you don't have access to admin settings:

Come on Atlassian, an admin should be able to turn these on and off!

It's really sad that Jira UI have become so cluttered with various "AI features" that you have now to contact Atlassian support to turn them off ;(

hello team,
welcome to community :)
Please find the document for the same on how to disable this feature known as smart replies
: https://support.atlassian.com/jira-software-cloud/docs/use-smart-replies-in-issue-comments/
Note : this feature is currently rolling out to disable at admin level
Thank you,
Prachi

Not very useful, as others have pointed out. Jira has so many buttons already, adding more visual clutter might not be the best move. Please remove them or give the admin the option to do so.

Just to follow up, the solution provided by @Prachi Bolar indeed solves the issue and removes the suggestions. Thanks for implementing this "turn off"-feature! :)

Another vote for an option to turn them off! They are distracting and pointless

I also hate these. Useless gimmicks that clutter an already heavy UI.

Any user should be able to turn these off. It should not require an admin to change the setting globally.

Since Atlassian apparently can't be bothered to add an option to disable this so very useful feature, you can use the following CSS selector to hide the div (until they change the HTML):
div:has(> [aria-label="Quick comments"]) {
display: none;
}
Or with uBlockOrigin:
##div:has(> [aria-label="Quick comments"])

Ah, yes, with an admin switch.
Still not possible at user level, though.

Hi,
To me they were very useful and now I can't find them. is it possible to activate them again?

You should be happy that they are gone, as they did not have any added value. They only used up valuable space on the website.

Thanks for this post @Sam Newman and the comments too.
I am only seeing these today on our instance. I like the comment suggestions but would like more information on it ... And yes, would love the ability to
Atlassian/Community, please can you shed some light on this 'new' comment suggestions feature and links if there are any articles posted on it?
Thanks
