Changing the workflow for initiatives

HI, I need to remove states from an existing workflow.  This workflow is assigned to the issue type 'initiative' (in my schema).

After some wrestling I created a copy of the workflow and managed to set it with the statuses the way I wanted.  Now I need to 'switch' between the old and new workflows.  I'm afraid to cause damage.  The buttons I see in the workflow schema are 'assign' or 'remove'.  I believe I should use remove to take out the current workflow and then click 'assign' to insert the new workflow.  But is this safe?  What would happen in the interim between 'remove' and 'assign'?  Is this the correct way?  Thank you.

Hi @Ilan Barel

You are safe with adding/assigning the workflow. You don't need to remove it.

If the statuses of the new workflow do not match the old workflow you will be asked to map them to the status in the new workflow.
