Cloning includes links when not selected

Lydia M June 30, 2022

Is anyone else having this problem?

When I clone an issue in Jira, I intentionally uncheck the boxes not to include attachments and links, yet every time, the old links are populated in the new cloned issue. I then have to take extra time to make sure that all the old links are removed.

Why is this happening?

Hi @Lydia M,

I am Marlene from codefortynine.

I wasn't able to reproduce your issue. But I noticed that the standard clone feature of Jira automatically creates a "Clone" issue link between to cloned and the original issue.

If you need more flexibility about cloning issue links, you can check out our app Deep Clone for Jira. With our app you can decide, whether you want to:

  • Clone Issue links
  • Clone Remote links (e.g. Confluence or web-links)
  • Add "Clones" issue link between clone and original issue

Hi Marlene,

Thanks for your response, but my issue is nothing to do with the original issue being linked in the cloned issue, which is perfectly normal and expected. My issue is that fields are populated with links when the "Links" check box is not selected.

Cheers,
