Non Descriptive Error Messages

I needed to add a comment to a Jira item but I get an error message that simply says it is too long and try to make it smaller.
I spent 30 minutes trying to save as much detail as I could and removed unimportant text.
Since your error message failed to tell me what the length limit is or what my current length is, I simply had to give up. I wasted 30 minutes of company time and my team will not get this important information.

Is there a setting that makes this product more user-friendly and gives more verbose error messages?
