Can I build a Jira app for JPD?

I love the tool and as a founder of Easy Apps we develop apps on the Atlassian Marketplace.

I bet I'm not the only one who would like to build features for JPD.

I'm interested in JPD apps from a technological perspective but see some roadblocks/challenges:

  • there are no JPD specific Forge modules and general Jira modules in a JPD project don't seem to be supported for now (and not on a public roadmap either);
  • there is no JPD specific REST API (though you could use the JSW one but without JPD specific functionality);
  • Forge app users do not have JPD api.asApp project permissions yet (see https://ecosystem.atlassian.net/browse/FRGE-1284).

Directly extending a JPD project don't seem to be possible for the moment. Potentially you could extend a JSW or Confluence project and then use GraphQL to retrieve some JPD specific functionality (Insights in particular). But besides a partially relevant example in a Bitbucket repository there seems to be no documentation and I haven't tried it myself. Moreover with Custom UI there is no requestGraph functionality on the Bridge.
