Outgoing email from Jira (Service Desk and Software projects) has been randomly clogging up the mail queue and/or showing as errored messages. I enabled logging for outgoing mail and the following shows in atlassian-jira-outgoing-mail.log (this is a small snip of the repeating messages):

Mail seems to be working for the most part though - the errored messages are actually received by the end user. I've been able to send test emails from Jira with no issue. What are we missing?

This failure was somewhat random. Entering a UN/PW for the outbound mail setting in Jira seems to have cleared it up.
