Hello Atlassian community,
We have listened to customer feedback and now, to better streamline your experience working with Atlassian products, we’re thrilled to announce that the Bulk Ops (Operations) APIs Beta program is ready for public use. This feature gives you precious time back to focus on high-value initiatives by enhancing Jira’s flexibility with automation processes that reduce manual human intervention for large volumes of issue updates.
Because the Jira UI requires operational work to be done manually, it can be time-consuming to make bulk issue changes. Customers also have to create an additional tab to continue working in Jira while their issue updates are being completed.
Using Bulk Ops APIs, the update process for large volumes of issues can be automated, increasing workflow efficiency while decreasing the chance of user-errors caused by outdated or inconsistent data. Additionally, because bulk issue updates are now taking place through the APIs instead of in the Jira UI, you are able to continue working while issue updates occur in the background.
The Beta program offers two APIs:
Bulk Edit API
Bulk Move API
The Bulk Edit API allows you to search/edit fields, return paginated results, and track the progress of bulk operations. Similarly, the Bulk Move API allows you to move issues between projects and issue types, specify values for mandatory fields, and monitor the progress of these operations.
We know that every organization has unique requirements. So we designed the Bulk Ops APIs to be flexible, allowing you to build on top of them to meet your specific use cases. Whether it's automating routine tasks or ensuring data consistency across large volumes of issues, the Bulk Ops APIs are designed to provide a more efficient and error-free way to manage your teams projects in Atlassian.
While Bulk Ops APIs are currently slated to release in Q3 2024, we invite all Atlassian users to join the Beta program right now! Participants in the Beta will experience firsthand how these APIs can streamline your workflows, save you time, and improve organizational productivity.
This is a great opportunity to provide tailored feedback that will help us refine feature capabilities over time, making it even more valuable to you. If you would like to share feedback, please do so in the comments below or in our Bulk Ops APIs community group discussion.
