How do I migrate crowd from the internal HSQL database to SQL Server

I found this article but it involves a re installation and seems to detail moving between servers.

Is it not possible to keep my installation but simply migrate from the internal database to SQL Server?  Others seem to be suggesting that a re-installation in place overwrites some key files.

Hi Ross,

Since you need to change the database, you need to do a fresh install from Crowd since you will need to import the xml backup during the installation process.

I strongly recommend you to try it in a staging environment first and always have a backup before perform it in production.
