I have alot of users complaining that they receive to many updates when the calendar is updated. I have had the users stop watching the calendar and the page it is hosted on, but they are still receiving notifications. I don't want to disable notifications completely. how can i turn off the calendar specifically?
Brett,
There's a thread as you can see here, that talks about the same question:

Cheers,

I don't think is useful, as the only thing it indicates is that to be able to stop watching a calendar is to stop watching the entire related space. Watching a calendar should be completely separate from watching a space.
It's a bug, there is an issue regarding another symptom of this problem: https://jira.atlassian.com/browse/CONF-35478
This community is celebrating its one-year anniversary and Atlassian co-founder Mike Cannon-Brookes has all the feels.
