Transfer project ownership

Is there an option to transfer project from one site to other site instead of migrating all elements? 

My aim is to get the project moved from one organization to other with all the history and legacy data. I read an article on 'Migration' option. I've tried that and it has few limitations.

there is some information around about how to export content - when you say you tried migration: was is that guide you referred to or a different one?
