Is it possible to disable email notifications from going out on a specific page?

We have a global page where many people in the organization make updates to for reference purposes only. 

There is no need to send an email every time the page is updated to those who are @mentioned in the page.   Page contributors do not need to be sent an email either.

I understand that uncheck the box to send notifications when I make an update.  Is it possible for that box to be unchecked by default on a page by page basis?

This article might be of help to you. This ticket CONFSERVER-25367 also addresses the same.

You can also probably use Manage Watchers capability to control whom to notify when.
