Difference in appearance of page URLs

Greg Della-Croce January 13, 2017

My customer community pointed out something I had not notice before.  In the same space there are two pages:

One page's URL is .../display/GLDS/2016-Q1-GLDS+Team+Meeting+Agendas+and Notes+Jan-Mar

The other page's URL is ..../pages/viewpage.action?pageid=192807349

Both pages were brought up the same way, by searching for the name from the dashboard.   So why is there a difference in the URLs?  This matters because we still have some customers that forget to use tinyURLs when passing a page to others in a document, and they just copy the URL at the top of the page.

Could someone explain this to me so I can explain it to my customers?

Effectively a duplicate of https://answers.atlassian.com/questions/46098693 which has a shorter question and an answer too.
