Hi,

does anyone know, if it is possible to export a Confluence space as it was at a specific date?

For auditing reasons, we need to view and export a whole space as it was last year.

Thank you for your suggestions

Thomas

I would say it is not possible.

The only way to do this now historical is to restore a backup on a test server and export this version.

For the future i think that the Scroll Versions or Copy Space extension can help you.

Hi Thomas,

Atlassian keep disaster recovery backups for 7 days on Cloud, so if you're on Cloud you're out of luck.  If you have a hosted version your host might well have backups from a year ago, depending on what your agreement says (and if they don't then upgrade your agreement from today onwards!).  If you host your own then presumably you don't have backups, otherwise you wouldn't ask this question.

Assuming you don't have access to a backup, tt is possible to see what content was in the space on a certain date, but it'll be a very long and laborious process which assumes you've never purged the trash in the space.

Essentially you need to export the space to another Confluence instance, view the history for every single page and revert the page back to the version that matches the time you're looking for.  Delete pages that were created later than a year ago.  You'll then need to go through the trash and restore every page and attachment that's appropriate, as well as making sure that macros point to what they should, e.g. if you have a JIRA Issue filter that shows the current sprint you'll need to change the JQL manually to point at the sprint from a year ago.  Then, if necessary, you'll have to revert the JIRA items to the same status as they were a year ago......

It could get very messy, and there's no guarantee you'll be seeing exactly what you saw a year ago.  But you can do it at least to a point.

It's not much help now, but you can export spaces from Cloud, hosted or self-hosted yourself - you might want to consider taking a monthly export of each space just to be certain in case this situation comes up again.
