Would be really helpful of confluence whiteboards needs at least basic shape editing features:
- rotate shape
- flip shape horisontally or vertically
- edit shape vector nodes, e.g. to create or modify own shape or icon
- colour picker
- transparency
This will make the tool much more useful for everyday whiteboards and simple diagramming.
Hey Jack,
Really appreciate the feedback here on the shape editing capabilities. Are any of those editing features particularly more important to you than others?
Hey Emily,
If you could add the ability to edit the nodes of a shape (see example), then that will solve most of the other problems, because then you can build any shape.
That is a big ask, but that would be my number 1.
If Whiteboards is to replace alternatives, then you do need to be able to draw good looking diagrams, and being able to work with vector objects will enable this. Some apps will refer to this a "vector pen tool".
Ideally add the whole list to your backlog and prioritise as you see fit. But please, do improve working with shapes in whiteboards. It will allow us to replace so many other tools and just use Whiteboards.

Hey Emily,
Transparency for SVG and PNG is also very high on the list. Then even if we can't change a shape in whiteboards, at least we can create it elsewhere and import it. However, currently transparency doesn't work, so shapes with uneven outlines (like almost all shapes) will have a rectangular white area around it that hides everything below it. I've raised this in a different post ;-)
Thanks for the help. It would be good if we can get an indication of when transparency will work. This is a pretty key requirement and probably a bug, rather than a feature request.
Cheers

Can i also add the request options to connect lines to shapes in the following ways:
a. auto...just drag connector to shap and it will move it to closest position...enables quick re-arranging of shapes with connecters without having to keep moving thier connection points.
b. connect to any point on thier outline...some diagrams we create can have many connectors and its nice to ensure its obvious where the lines trace from and to.
Thank you

Hi @Emily Ditchfield ,
Are you able to share a date on when transparency of SVG images will be supported? It is really hard to do good looking diagrams without it. With a bit of luck, it is a simple feature bug to fix.
Below is an example of what is expected, vs. what happens.
