Embedding a field's value inline doesn't look as expected (what am I missing)?

Hi, I'm just starting with Confluence Databases (thumbs up!).
So I set up a product knowledge base fo testing. 

Use case:
Maintaining product info in a central database - values to be shown via /embed in multiple locations as needed. 
A database update of any product info spreads magically to all embeds... Nice. 

Now I'm stuck with the appearance of 'inline embedding':
It doesn't show the needed value? Screenshot: 

Am I missing something here?

I fully agree, the smart link capabilities are not there yet for DB Entries. What I am missing the most is a very lightweight visualization of the db entry value, no frame, no nothing around it.
