Why is the email address in Atlassian Community not being synchronized with my Atlassian Account?

Hi there,

recently I changed my email address in the Atlassian account but Atlassian Community still uses my old one. Therefore, all notifications are sent to it. I'm unable to edit the email address for the Community directly, because I'm being redirected to my Atlassian Account.

What do I have to do to make this work, i.e. the email address gets updated in Community?

I thought there would be a regular sync between Community and Account.

Do you experience this as well?

The Community site should be using the https://id.atlassian.com site record for your account name, email address, etc.  However this does not sync immediately, like other Atlassian sites can.  Instead this only happens when you login to Community.  So I would recommend the following steps:

  1. Go to https://community.atlassian.com and then Logout of your session
  2. Go to the site https://id.atlassian.com and confirm your changes here and save them.
  3. Then try to return to the community site: https://community.atlassian.com and login once more


I would expect that only upon a new login to the community site for your user profile details to possibly change.

If this does not work as expected, could you please navigate to your user profile in Community, and then share your profile URL with me so that we can investigate the details of this further.

thank you! Logging out and in again did the job :)

Is it possible to automatically log the user out once the new email has been verified? If not it would be great to warn users that they have to log out and in again so that this change is applied.
