We have projects that usually have a client-facing side (Jira Service Desk) and an internal side (Jira Software). We make sure a client-facing ticket has its 'clone' on the internal side so that we can group it into a release. Because we're not on premium Jira, we can't use the cross-project releases.
We're wondering if we do upgrade, would we be able to create releases and include tickets from Jira Service Desk in it? Or is it only across projects in Jira Software?

Our app Version Sync for Jira might be interesting for you.
With our Atlassian Marketplace app you can sync versions/releases between projects or from one project to another project.
In the Version Sync - Releases Overview you can get an overview about the synced releases.
Before suggesting anything, would like to highlight a fact that cross-projects releases align multiple single-project releases, and is only used for planning purposes in Advanced Roadmaps. They can’t be saved back to your Jira issues.
So if you upgrade to premium you would get advanced roadmaps --> cross project releases for both Jira software and service management project. Is that the approach you are planning ?
As matter of fact the plans in advanced roadmaps can have tickets included from a board, filter or a project. So technically it i possible if you create filter to include the tickets and show them in the plan.
