How do Plan for Future Headcount resources in capacity planning

Doron Katz February 15, 2023

Hi,

I wanted to understand if there was a way to plan a roadmap for the year, not only with teams and resources that exist, but future headcount (assumptions)?

Hello @Doron Katz

I'm Ostap, from the ActivityTimeline Team.

In our app, we actually allow users to create Potential Resources, who are not yet part of the Jira instance and then plan their timelines the same way as you do from the actual users:

By the way, we also have deep integration with Advanced Roadmaps both on User and Team levels:

Thanks for that. Great to hear. Are you able to add potential resource at different times in the timeline? Say in July we expect to increase our head count by one engineer?

Hi @Doron Katz

Basically, you just create the resource in the system, but you can choose the period where to assign some booking or project assignment to that particular resource, so in a nutshell, you can visually display when this resource is needed or when it's joining the team.

Hi @Doron Katz
Welcome to the community.

This is certainly not built-in to Advanced roadmaps. Currently only team level capacity can be visualised (as is the Agile way), I don't something like future headcount (assumptions) would ever become put of the product natively.

I figured do you know of any good plugins that may provide that?
